A truck loaded with lithium batteries catches fire in Jiangxi,China

On July 13th at 2:47 PM, a logistics truck carrying lithium batteries caught fire suddenly at a service area on the highway in Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province.

Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene, immediately securing the area and assessing the situation. They found a large truck parked in the driving lane engulfed in flames, with thick smoke billowing out. The lithium batteries inside the cargo compartment were igniting like fireworks, but fortunately, the driver had already moved to a safe area.

Upon questioning the driver, rescue teams learned that the truck was loaded with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Understanding the critical situation, firefighters deployed a dry powder fire extinguisher and two water hoses to contain the blaze.

By 3:46 PM, the fire was mostly under control, and firefighters continued to cool down the hotspots with water. At 4:22 PM, all visible flames were extinguished, but the area was littered with debris from the burnt lithium batteries.

Lithium battery fires are known for their suddenness, rapid spread, high combustion temperatures, and the release of flammable gases, often accompanied by explosions. It requires specialized firefighting techniques to handle such incidents.
